Growing Esteem Knowledge Transfer

Who is involved in Knowledge Transfer?

Knowledge Transfer covers a broad spectrum of activities taking place on the University campus, and in the wider non-academic world.

The most recognisable form is the transfer of technology whereby the products of research are developed and marketed through the commercial sector. But there are numerous other examples which are not directly commercial. And knowledge transfer also includes work done in incrementally improving existing products and processes.

Whether it’s the public appearance of intellectuals in mainstream media and forums to enhance debate, or the advisory and policy roles performed by academics in concert with governments, industry and community agencies, all are involved in knowledge transfer.

There is also the broad community access to the University’s artistic programs and exhibits, and the collaborative projects undertaken by University staff and students in conjunction with external partners. These partners might come from any or all of the government, business and community sectors. And knowledge transfer from industry experts and vocational planners can shape the University’s coursework planning which in turn maximises graduates’ employment opportunities.
