How is Knowledge Transfer measured?
The issue of how knowledge transfer will be evaluated and integrated into the University’s academic promotions guidelines is being examined by the Knowledge Transfer Measurement Working Group.
Measurement of knowledge transfer will take account of the level of the University’s engagement with the broader community. Central to this will be a means to gauge the extent and benefits of the contributions flowing back to the University from external partners. This evaluation will be for existing activities as well as new knowledge transfer initiatives.
Among the details being proposed to measure knowledge transfer include an outline of the activity, its purpose and the external partners involved. Information about the project’s potential benefits (over short, medium and/or long-term), its demonstrable benefits to the University and the external partner(s) are among other issues being considered.
