FAQs and Examples
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Will the CCRAG sponsor me to attend an international conference/event?
The CCRAG does not generally support individuals to attend events. The CCRAG’s aim is to support projects which have the widest benefit to the University and to the community.
2. How much should I request from the CCRAG?
The minimum grant is normally $1000. The CCRAG has limited funds and applications for grants over $10,000 are unlikely to be successful, although the CCRAG may decide to allocate a portion of the requested amount. The CCRAG always looks for evidence of resource commitment from elsewhere.
3. My proposed event is of great interest to people in my field and I expect a lot of national and international interest from people in this discipline. Is it eligible for CCRAG funding?
The CCRAG generally funds projects that have a broad appeal and which engage wide community involvement. Activities of interest to specialists in a certain discipline are regarded as matters for the relevant academic department and would not generally be funded by the CCRAG.
4. Can I resubmit an unsuccessful application from an earlier round?
Although this is technically possible, it would be highly unlikely that an application that had been unsuccessful in one round would be successful in a later round.
5. Will the CCRAG provide me a grant to hold an event to raise funds for my club/charity/project?
The CCRAG does not provide funds for management of fundraising activities. All fundraising done in the University’s name must first be approved by the Advancement Office.
6. My project is of interest to the University community but I’m not/my organisation is not affiliated with the University. Can I still apply for a CCRAG grant?
In order to be eligible for a CCRAG grant, applicants must be from the University, its affiliates or its community. Unfortunately the CCRAG is unable to offer grants to external bodies.
7. My department holds a regular conference/exhibition/performance to showcase the work of students and academics in the department. Would this be eligible for a CCRAG grant?
The CCRAG does not fund events considered to be part of the normal function of a department or faculty. These activities are considered to be matters for deans and heads of departments.
8. I am/my group is seeking funding to publish a journal. Would my project be eligible for a CCRAG grant?
The CCRAG provides funding for print, electronic and audio-visual publications that record history or achievements or that function as resource information for the University, such as catalogues of cultural collections. The CCRAG does not fund journals, magazines or other periodicals.
